First Loacker white wine from the tuscan Maremma
Verona, in April 2010
In this year the Loacker wineries are having great news: The first white wine from a Loacker tuscan estate will be on the market! From the late spring on there' s no more only the Gewürztraminer, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc from South Tyrol available. But also a Vermentino from the Loacker winery Valdfalco from the tuscan Maremma. This step will interrupt the long distance Loacker family tradition to produce only red wines in Tuscany.
„Since a long time we had the idea to make a white wine in Tuscany. I have chosen the variety Vermentino, because it has a crunchy acidity and in the hot climate of the Maremma you can produce a fresh wine with lots of fruit aromas“, says the enologist Hayo Loacker. „To receive a clear and characteristic fruit in the wine, the Vermentino was fermented by controlled 16 to 17 degrees celsius with our own wild heast.“ The wine will be commercialized with the name „Valdifalco“, the label itself with his green colours is a tribute to the green-gold-yellow colours of the wine.
The vineyards are on ten to 60 metres above sea level near by the Via Aurelia, in front of the Parco dell´Uccellina. The nature park protects the area of the stormy winds that are coming from the mediterrean sea. The Vermentino - like all the other wines from the Loackers wineries - is made by biodinamic methods and with the help of omeopathic remedies in the vineyard. The year 2009, which is still in the steal tanks, will be filled up about 3000 bottles.
In a short time a new Loacker internet site will be online! The adress: www.loacker.net.
Welcome to the Vinitaly! The Loacker Wineries are in the Hall 9/G4 together with the Consorzio Vintesa. Rainer, Hayo and Franz Loacker are waiting for you with several wines of all the three wineries in South Tyrol, Montalcino and the Maremma. And certainly also with a glass of the brand new Vermentino. |
